  • Session 1 (July 8th): Turns
  • Session 2 (July 15th): Jumps/Leaps
  • Session 3 (July 22nd): Improv
  • Session 4 (July 29th): Choreography

Session 1: Turns

Dancers will break down the fundamental components of a turn. These include, the preparation, spotting, head and body placement, balance, and overall strength. Students will partake in numerous drills and exercises to assist in enhancing their turning capabilities.

Session 2: Jumps/Leaps

Dancers will focus on lower body flexibility, strength, and power as they work on increasing height, showing images in the air, and dancing explosively. Jump training and drills will be the focus of this workshop as dancers are exposed to numerous types of jumps and leaps.

Session 3: Improv

Dancers will have the opportunity to enhance their improv skills through a series of prompts and exercises that will get them out of their comfort zone. Our goal is to get our students dancing organically and making smart decisions as they improv–implementing less “tricky” steps and applying more natural movements that come within.

Session 4: Choreography

Dancers will have a chance to pick up numerous segments of choreography in a brief period of time. It is imperative that dancers learn how to take in choreography quickly, both exercising their minds and bodies. Working on this skill will directly impact their professionalism, adaptability, memory skills, confidence on stage, and eventual career opportunities if they wish to pursue that path.
